True, the seller has every right to turn a profit on a highly desired collectible. But, this is Makoto Nagano we’re talking about here! He doesn’t play professional ball and get million dollar contracts. He doesn’t care for the publicity. He came to America to meet his fans and leave memorabilia for us to fawn over. The seller clearly does not value such a prized possession. A true Ninja Warrior fan would never have auctioned off the memorabilia, especially only a few months after getting the signature!

Perhaps I have been too critical of our seller. Maybe I’m just jealous that she has his autograph and I don’t.

G4’s American Ninja Challenge submissions are the hottest thing since sliced bread right about now. Applicants across America have submitted their videos to be voted on. If you are an applicant, I know it may be tempting for you to post your video on all over the Internet, starting with youtube. Please don’t!

One of G4’s subtle rules (currently not explicitly written in the official rules) is that contestants should not post their submission videos onto sites like youtube until after the winners have been voted on.

You have put a lot of hard work into your video. Don’t ruin your chances of qualifying for the contest by prematurely posting it to the web.

The Contest began on Friday, January 18, 2008. Get your videos in soon! (But don’t hurt yourself in the process).
Don’t forget to read the official rules while you’re at it.

The iron man from Gifu, touted as having only 3% body fat, is unfortunately plagued with being able to use only 3% of his brain.

Yasushi Yamada proudly wears the orange jumpsuit as a fireman from the Gifu prefecture. His first appearance was in Season 12. Like other successful firefighter contestants before him, Yasushi displays a stunning mix of strength and agility. Sasuke announcers continuously shower him with praises of his physical supremacy throughout his run across the obstacle course.

Indeed, the man is a picture of the ultimate male Japanese physique: super lean, super muscular, and super TANNED. Just take a look at the clip above. It is no surprise that Yasushi takes his time in showing off his body before the start of every obstacle. We can see him “casually” swaying his arms back and forth while flexing every bit of muscle on his body. Some viewers have even complained that his body is so toned that his abs look disgustingly unnaturally.

Sasuke Ninja Warrior history has shown us that the obstacle courses demand both agility and strength, two qualities that seem to come naturally from Yasushi. Tragically, that is not the case for our iron man if he isn’t smart about where and when he uses his strength and agility.

Lactic acid buildup is the deadliest Ninja Killer. Yasushi has failed at several key obstacles because of lactic acid buildup. He is notorious for trying to muscle his way through each obstacle without regard towards effective ways of body placement and maneuvering. Audience members can feel his frustration as he hangs helplessly on the latter half of Pipe Slider obstacle on Stage 3. He would put so much force into swaying back and forth to build momentum, only to land in water when his arms gave out.

Looking at the clip above, we painfully watch as time expires for Yamada on Stage 2 no less. Again, his technique, or lack thereof, leads to his muscles giving out. We want to see him make it as an all-star. The way he currently expends all of his brute force will surely take him out of contention sooner than later.

Technique is crucial in this competition, yet Yasushi refuses to adopt it. Instead, he favors the use of brute force to overcome each obstacle. While that may work for much of Stage 1, Yasushi will continue to pay the price in later stages if he doesn’t wise up and use his strength conservatively and when appropriate.

Strength is only half the battle. Ninja Warriors must also use their wits on their journey to Total Victory.

I’d like to introduce my good friend and fellow Ninja Warrior fanatic, Melvin (aka disgracefulninja). He has graciously offered to share a few details about himself.

Clearly, Melvin aka disgracefulninja doesn’t take his life seriously. That’s not to say that he takes the easy route when it comes to Ninja Warrior Training. He may not in peak physical shape, but his monster dedication to the art of Ninja Warrior is unsurpassed. Here are some of his attempts at training for Sasuke 20.

Mt. Midoriyama isn’t really a mountain at all. Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) owns a studio called “Mt. Midoriyama.” which in the back, has ample space to set up the 4 intense stages of the Sasuke obstacle courses. Located in Yokohama Prefecture, it is surprisingly close to the heart of Japan, Tokyo. TBS only discloses the exact location to their contestants and their family members.

The studio is considered and openly called “The Holy Ground.” There is nothing religious or Holy about Sasuke, but to those contestants or fans that live for the goal of achieving Total Victory, Mt. Midoriyama is a sacred place. To the famous Mr. Katsumi Yamada, Sasuke is almost his religion.: he lives and breathes Sasuke.

TBS only discloses the address to which to send applications to when recruiting competitors for an upcoming competition. Applicants are to send in the following information: Name, age, occupation, contact, address, and what we could call a “personal statement” that shows your enthusiasm for the show. Photos and videos are also welcome. Remember, TBS will not return any of what you send to them.

As a fan, you probably know what the show is all about. Now with this extra knowledge, get off that couch and start training. Maybe YOU can become the next most fit, strongest, and most dedicated competitor ever to become … Ninja Warrior.
